If you're reading this, you've probably either heard or said this, "Your snoring keeps me up at night. I can't sleep!" But loud snoring could be the tip of the iceberg. It could be pointing a bigger issue, sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is characterized by pauses in your breathe for 10 seconds or more and could happen several times an hour. The side effects include: high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, irregular heart beats, heart attacks, diabetes, depression and worsening of ADHD.

Sleep Apnea: What are the Symptoms?

The most common signs and symptoms of sleep apnea are:
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Waking up short of breath
  • Loud snoring or episodes of choking, gasping or breathing cessation while sleeping
  • Waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat
  • Frequent morning headaches
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's time to talk to your doctor about treatment options. For many, the best option is CPAP therapy.

Check out our CPAP and BiPAP supply section to see a variety of masks, supplies and machines available to help you sleep.

You owe it to yourself, and your partner, to talk to your doctor today. Treating your sleep apnea will have a positive effect on your life.

Bonus Video: Why is Sleep so Important?

Why is sleep so important? Russell Foster is a circadian neuroscientist: He studies the sleep cycles of the brain. And he asks: What do we know about sleep?

What is that? What am I talking about? I'm talking about the part number for 3M Cavilon Moisturizing Lotion. Or, one of the part numbers. It depends how many you are buying. If you're buying 48 Units of 3m Cavilon, it's MMM9215.

Why am I blogging it? It's a product we've sold several times by people searching on the part number. I always admire that level of specificity.

We've also sold quite a few of the Orion Nasal CPAP Systems. Thought you might want to know that, as well.

This compact, lightweight unit (only 3.5 lbs.) boasts a noise level that's less than 28 decibels and easy operation that allows adjustments in 1/2 cm increments from 4-18 cm H2O pressure. Standard features include: integrated altitude adjustment, universal power supply, patient compliance hour meter, and 6' smooth bore circuit. Adjustable ramp base pressure and ramp time up to 20 minutes. And it comes complete with a luxury padded carry bag for your convenience. Just so you know.

More soon. Have a great day!

Taking a look at the popular searches on DME Supply Group (that is, our internal searches, not incoming Google searches or anything like that), a few things stand out.

You frequently are looking for nebulizers. Like the one pictured above.

And saline. There is apparently a lot of need for saline. Like the saline rinse pictured above.

CPAP products also figure heavily into the searches. Like, the following ZZZ-Pap CPAP Unit with Heated Humidifier.

As do electrodes, presumably for TENS Units.

You also search fairly often for Inavacare Corporation, Invacare Supply Group, and Medline. Who should you be searching for? Complete Medical and Graham-Field. Great products. Often superior pricing. We sell it all, but still, just think about it.

You also look quite a bit for gloves, syringes, and Ensure. Which I expect is the Nutritional Supplement.

Also, bariatric products, Epi-Clenz Foam, Ear Syringes, Leg Bags, Rollators, Lumex products, and more. Also, interestingly, a few searches specifically for B. Braun Medical, Inc.

More later.

Well, we'd hardly be a full-service provider of Durable Medical Equipment if we didn't carry such things. And we do. We offer a full suite of respiratory products, such as CPAP and BIPAP equipment and accessories.

The Invacare Twilight CPAP / BIPAP Mask

Such as the ZZZ-Pap CPAP Unit with Heated Humidifier. Or in the Invacare Polaris EX CPAP with SoftX and Heated Humidifier. We have the FlexFit© Family of Nasal and Full Masks, CPAP Tubing, SleepStyle© 200 CPAP Series, and the Medline RestEZ for CPAP line.

We also offer a full selection of Cylinders / Regulators and Accessories, Respiratory Irrigation Solutions, Respiratory Compressors, Asthma Management, Air Cleaners and Accessories, Oxygen Products, Spacer Devices and Accessories, Yankauers and Solidifiers, Anesthesia Products and many more respiratory related products.

The Care Free HumidifierPlus with NiteGlo2.

That's the Care Free HumidifierPlus with NiteGlo 2 Gallon. I happen to own and use one of these, and it is good, though not exactly carefree. The bright blue nightlight aspect appeals to the kids. It works for the price, but my main complaint is that it doesn't get as much moisture into the air as I want as quickly as I want. I happen to prefer products more like the Sunpentown Ultrasonic Humidifier, though unfortunately DME Supply Group does not yet sell any real Ultrasonic Humidifiers. Yet.

We do however sell a lot of Compressors, Nebulizers and Accessories, Allergy Care and Air Cleaners and Accessories.

Another post--probably!--tomorrow.
